MET AMS 2023 is just around the corner. As with its first edition last year, it promises to bring together experts in bleeding-edge technologies - including Web3 - with leaders and pioneers in the industries that are being transformed by them. Fashion is one such industry, and it’s exciting to see it being recognized at MET AMS this year.
Major brands are steaming ahead with NFT-powered phygital product launches, exclusively for their Web3 communities. Luxury labels are exploring the possibilities of the metaverse for engaging a new generation of customers. Independent designers are charting new waters in web3 fashion.
Stephy Fung Headlines MET AMS 2023
As a blockchain technology provider, Venly has experience helping brands of all sizes - from household names to avant-garde independents - to create new ways for brands to connect with their communities and redefine the fashion experience. This year at MET AMS, we’re particularly excited to be able to connect with independent designers and trend-setters, and excited for attendees to get to experience the future of digital and NFT fashion.
In this new frontier, pioneers like Stephy Fung are leading the way. As a digital fashion designer, her work exemplifies the creative possibilities that this industry evolution offers. Her contributions to the field, from stunning digital garments to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with digital design tools, place her at the forefront of this exciting new field.
In her interview with the MET AMS Creator Sessions blog, Fung shared insights into her creative process and her experiences in the industry. She emphasized the importance of play and experimentation, stating, "The benefit of being an early participant in digital fashion is that we don’t have to take it as seriously. We have the space to play and experiment."
Fung’s presence at the event underscores the growing influence of digital fashion artists in shaping the future of the industry. As we look forward to her contributions at MET AMS 2023, it’s clear that artists like Fung are at the forefront of this exciting new frontier.
Fashion in the Metaverse at MET AMS 2023
Like digital fashion, the metaverse is also being spotlighted at MET AMS. It, too, will change fashion in ways we are only beginning to imagine. The metaverse offers an entirely new platform for designers to showcase their work and for consumers to interact with fashion. Stephy Fung’s virtual garments are a perfect example of this. Her design process is all digital, resulting in 3D-modelled NFT fashion garments that can adorn virtual avatars or, as has also been the case, be later translated into real physical garments.
Beyond customer engagement, this also has implications for the industry’s environmental impact, as physical resources are not expended during the design and prototyping process. With Gen Z the most environmentally conscious market we’ve ever seen, NFT fashion’s potential to make the fashion industry more sustainable is something no brand can afford to ignore.
Integrating Blockchain Isn’t Hard
Until now, integrating blockchain into company workflows has seemed a daunting task. Perhaps the single biggest brake on the widespread adoption of web3 technologies is the learning curve associated with deploying them. That’s where we come in. With web3 products that are actually quite simple to use, we simplify the process of adopting blockchain technology.
Venly’s solutions are designed to help companies transition to blockchain smoothly and efficiently. They offer a range of products that cater to different needs, making blockchain adoption accessible for all. In an interview with BeInCrypto earlier this year, Venly CEO Tim Dierckxsens laid out the company's approach. “Venly has an uncompromising focus on simple, intuitive UX and industry-leading security, as well as dedicated support for both our customers and their users,” he said.
“Customers often tell us how presently surprised they are with their go-to-market time once they’ve started with Venly. They expect the process to take weeks, but, with us, they’re up and running in days.”
Venly Partner Mutani Continues Web3 Fashion Journey at MET AMS
That was the experience of Shayli Harrison, designer and founder of digital fashion brand MUTANI. Harrison, who is also appearing at MET AMS 2023, previously participated in the 2023 Metaverse Fashion Week, at which she debuted a limited edition phygital collection on the virtual runways of Metaverse platform Decentraland.
Admirers of her work, the result of collaboration with Bulgarian designer Stefan Kartchev, could purchase both the physical garment, as well as its virtual fashion NFT twin, directly from her Shopify store. Customers could go from storefront to checkout in just a few clicks, pay with credit card, automatically receive their fashion NFTs via email, and never even have to worry about the word ‘crypto.’
That was thanks to Venly’s Shopify NFT integration, which simplifies and streamlines the entire NFT process - from stocking in the online store to payment, minting, and delivery. “That was the easy part,” said Harrison, citing the UX as a primary reason for the simplicity of the Venly App.
“I'm interested to take this to the next stage and see what we can build together. On a technical level too, it's just been really flush. So I'm really glad.”
Harrison’s Metaverse Fashion Week initiative was a groundbreaking event that showcased the potential of NFT fashion. Efforts like hers have since been replicated by major brands, including L’Oreal at Paris Fashion Week 2023 and plenty of others at London Fashion Week 2023.

“We firmly believe that Web3 represents a generational upgrade in the infrastructure of the internet which will produce benefits for humanity we are only just beginning to conceive of,” he has previously said. “It’s a hugely exciting transformation to be a part of.”
